Bristol Airport (BRS)

Bristol Airport (IATA: BRS, ICAO: EGGD) is located at Lulsgate Bottom in North Somerset, on the northern slopes of the Mendip Hills. It serves the city of Bristol and its surrounding areas, situated about 7 nautical miles (13 km; 8.1 miles) southwest of Bristol's city centre.
The airport occupies the site of a former RAF airfield and was established in 1957 as Bristol (Lulsgate) Airport, replacing the previous Bristol (Whitchurch) Airport. It was known as Bristol International Airport between 1997 and 2010.
Ownership changes included the sale of a majority stake to FirstGroup in 1997, followed by a 2001 sale to a joint venture led by Macquarie Bank. In September 2014, the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan became the sole owner after buying out Macquarie's share.
In 2019, Bristol Airport became the United Kingdom's eighth busiest airport, surpassing Glasgow Airport, and handled over 8.9 million passengers—a 3% increase from the previous year. A 2015 passenger survey revealed that 32.5% of trips through the airport originated or ended in Bristol, with 9.6% from Gloucestershire, 24.5% from Somerset, 16.9% from Devon, and 8.2% from Wiltshire.
The airport is a base for airlines such as EasyJet and Ryanair and holds a Civil Aviation Authority Public Use Aerodrome Licence (number P432), allowing for public passenger transport and flight instruction.
